Chapter 7 A Day with the Beavers

While the two boys were whispering behind, both the girls suddenly cried “Oh!” and stopped.  
“The robin!” cried Lucy, “the robin. It’s flown away.” And so it had – right out of sight. 
“And now what are we to do?” said Edmund, giving Peter a look which was as much as to say “What did I tell you?” 
“Sh! Look!” said Susan. 
“What?” said Peter. 
“There’s something moving among the trees over there to the left.”

“And now,” said Mr. Beaver, pushing away his empty beer mug and pulling his cup of tea toward him, “if you’ll just wait till I’ve got my pipe lit up and going nicely — why, now we can get to business. It’s snowing again,” He added, cocking his eye at the window. “That’s all the better, because it means we shan’t have any visitors; and if anyone should have been trying to follow you, why he won’t find any tracks.”

  1. What was the whiskered furry animal and what signal did he give to the children?
  2. What “token” or sign did the beaver give to the children to prove that he was on their side? 
  3. When Mr. Beaver said, “They say Aslan is on the move — perhaps he has already landed”, how differently did the children respond at the name of Aslan?  Edmund, Peter, Susan, Lucy
  4. As they continued to walk, what “fine sight” did the children see when they came out under the open sky? 
  5. What did Edmund notice and what did he think about?
  6. How did Mr. Beaver introduce the children to Mrs. Beaver?
  7. Describe how Mr. Beaver went fishing. 
  8. How do you understand Mr. Beaver, “…we shan’t have any visitors…”?
