First paragraph in Chapter 17

The battle was all over a few minutes after their arrival. Most of the enemy had been killed in the first charge of Aslan and his companions; and when those who were still living saw that the Witch was dead they either gave themselves up or took to flight. The next think that Lucy knew was that Peter and Aslan were shaking hands. It was strange to her to see Peter looking as he looked now – his face was so pale and stern and he seemed so much older.

Last paragraph in Chapter 17

And that is the very end of the adventure of the wardrobe. but if the Professor was right it was only the beginning of the adventures of Narnia.

  1. Describe the sights and sounds around the castle of Cair Paravel.
  2. What was the first thing the children did after being crowned Kings and Queens with scepters  into their hands?
  3. What news did Mr. Tumnus bring to Cair Paravel?
  4. When the two Kings and two Queens entered the thicket, what did they see?
  5. When the children explained their adventure to the Professor, what did he tell them would happen when they weren’t looking?

When crowned Kings and Queens, their title were King Peter the Magnificent, Queen Susan the Gentle, King Edmund the Just and Queen Lucy the Valiant. If you were crowned a king or queen, what would you like for your title to be?

Deeper Truth

The only hope for Edmund and Narnia was Aslan. Only Aslan could save Edmund and Narnia from the power of the White Witch. Aslan laid down his own life for Edmund, taking Edmund’s punishment and dying in his place.

The only hope for us is Jesus – the great Lion – the King of kings, Lord of lords, Son of God. He is the only One who can save us from our sin. That’s why He came to earth.

The Bible says:

“The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”  I John 3:8

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.”  I John 3:16

“God loved the world and gave His son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life.”    John 3:16
