There are two ways to pick out brick (maybe there are more ways, but I only know of two!). Look at the samples, then find houses that have that brick on them OR find a house you like and see if you can find out what brick it is. We did a combination of those two things. While driving around looking for addresses of houses on the list of possible brick, we saw a house with brick that we loved. This house became the inspiration for our house. Repeat…this is NOT our house.

We’re going for the used, painted brick look. It’s a tumbled white on red brick and then there is a light wash of mortar over it that the brick masons added. We love it and you will either love it or hate it. We’ve had people ask when we’re going to clean the brick. Uhhh…never!

Loved these guys! We asked them not to “treat” the soldiers over the windows…

This is the side entrance…the design on side-light and transom is called “wisteria”. There was a beautiful wisteria bush on our lot that was transplanted to our neighbor’s yard so that seems like a nice touch.

This is going to be the front door. There will be a fence with a gate to get to the front door.

Wood floors are laid early in the process so the baseboard can be set over it…brilliant! I took this picture through the window…can you tell?
