Feed on

Health is not the absence of disease.  It is not just a physical condition.  Health is a zest for living, peace of mind and contentment.  It is happiness and being spiritually awake.  It has been said, “Compared to what we ought to be, we are half-awake.”   The goal of this blog is to help you be fully awakened to what (and who) you are.

Physical health is built at a cellular level. Receiving all the quality protein, vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and essential fatty acids we need on a daily basis is sometimes challenging.  Some foods leave us under-nourished while being over-fed.  By the time food reaches us it can be “shipped, stored, trimmed, bleached, frozen, canned, condensed, dehydrated, pasteurized, sterilized, smoked, cured, milled, roasted, toasted and puffed.” Convenience, taste, color, advertising and packaging reign supreme and even though you may read labels, many foods contain preservatives, artificial colors, artificial sweeteners and other chemicals and hormones.  These additives can disrupt our metabolism and can offset any nutritional value so that what we eat can have a negative impact rather than nourishing and feeding us.

So what are we to do?  The first step is to make a decision…right there – where you’re sitting say “I’m going to take control of my health!”  From experience, I know that your motivation must be higher than any obstacle so make your reason to start building better health not just a “maybe”.  Start with a plan and an all out commitment that change is not only worth the effort, but YOU are worth the effort.  It is amazing how our bodies respond when we give them what they need to build health.

One time when I was praying over my food and said, “God, bless this food…” God said to me in my mind and my heart, “Give me something to work with.”  That changed by thinking completely.  We can pray for better health, but it is our responsibility to give God something to work with, namely healthy food.  Our health improves when we make wise choices in the food we eat and the supplements we take.

Remember your physical journey can be compared to your spiritual journey in that you walk by faith, and not by sight.  What you eat today will enter your body and do a hidden thing.  What you eat matters and will be evident in your health tomorrow.  I would like to even encourage you to realize that what you eat for breakfast will impact how you feel all day.

Your physical, as well as your spiritual health, impacts your achieving your full potential in life.  I would be happy to help you to reach your health goals naturally, because we all need a cheerleader and sometimes accountability!

Best of health to you and yours,   Karen
